Folktale Photography

A quieter way to remember it all.

Folktale is a photography studio centered on natural light, thoughtful composition, and a calm, editorial approach. Based along the coast and available for travel, the work focuses on documenting weddings, portraits, and personal projects in a way that feels honest and unforced. Rather than directing every moment, the approach allows space for things to unfold naturally, resulting in images that feel grounded, lived-in, and true to the people in them.

This space was created for those who value presence over performance. For people who care less about perfect posing and more about how something actually felt while it was happening.

Some moments arrive fully formed.

Most don’t.

They build slowly, between conversations.

In the way someone reaches for you without thinking. In the quiet before the music starts, or the way the light shifts halfway through the day.

It’s not about creating a version of the day that feels polished beyond recognition. It’s about paying close attention to what’s already there and knowing when to step in, and when to let it be. Over time, that way of working becomes something you can feel in the final images. Not loud or overly styled, just steady, observant, and intentional.

About the Artist

meet folktale

Folktale began with a simple idea.

That the most meaningful images don’t come from control, but from attention.

Over time, that idea became a way of working. One rooted in patience, awareness, and a belief that the smallest details often carry the most weight. The work is shaped just as much by what’s noticed as it is by what’s captured, resulting in images that feel considered without feeling overworked.

Working primarily with weddings and portrait clients, Folktale serves those who are drawn to a more natural and understated visual style. The work often leans into soft tones, organic movement, and a sense of place, whether that’s along the coastline, in a quiet city setting, or somewhere entirely personal to the client. Travel is welcomed, and each location is approached with the same attention to light, texture, and atmosphere.

While the foundation of the work is consistent, each project is shaped by the people within it. No two galleries feel the same, and that is entirely intentional.

The experience is steady, unobtrusive, and intentional. You won’t be asked to perform or recreate something that doesn’t feel natural. Instead, there’s a quiet collaboration. A sense that someone is paying attention in a way that allows you to relax into the moment rather than step outside of it.
